Laser diode based systems are perfectly suited for cutting thin sheet metals, particularly copper, gold and silver, which have very low absorption at wavelengths of CO2 and fiber lasers. They also cut fabrics, plastics, composites, wood and other non-ferrous materials. Since the wavelength of the diode laser can be selected for the maximum absorption of the particular material, the direct diode laser-based process offers high processing speeds with exceptional edge quality.
